Samsung Galaxy Mega Android Phones
Pushing the envelope of how big a mobile phone can be, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 is the bigger one of the two mega handsets launched together by Samsung, the smaller one is Mega 5.8, and by no means is that one ‘small’. This beast of a handset sports a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution LCD screen, which is less than the pixel-dense Galaxy S4 with its 1920 x 1080 pixels. This kind of sucks, because the pixel density falls below the perceivable limit of the human eye (which is at 300 PPI, the Mega 6.3 stands at 233 PPI). It is powered by a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core chipset grunting at 1.7 GHz, coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. You have 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, with an expected microSD card slot to top it up further. A 8MP shooter at the back and the 1.9MP front-facing sensor sum up the photography department. Certain markets also have an LTE-enabled Mega 6.3, but for the rest, there’s 3G speeds of up to 21 Mbps. Feeding energy to this beast is a 3200 mAh battery, that’s almost similar to the Note II.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 is the smaller of the two Mega series of handsets launched by Samsung. As the name suggests, this phone has a 5.8-inch display bearing a qHD resolution (960 x 540 pixels). This drives the pixel down to a little less than 200 PPI, which isn’t as pixel dense as its competitors. Nonetheless, if big screen is what you like, then you get that aplenty with the Mega series. It runs on an unspecified 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, coupled with the same 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage as its elder brother. No worries though, the chipset seems to be capable enough of handling 1080p HD video recording via the 8 megapixel sensor at the back. The front sensor is also the same as the Mega 6.3 at 1.9MP. The Mega 5.8 has a relatively smaller 2600 mAh battery, but that’s exactly the same as the Galaxy S4. And if the S4 can drive a Full HD display and top-of-the-line chipset specs with that much power, the Mega 5.8 should not let you down in terms of battery life.
